Ukrainian activists support Bialiatski and other prisoners of conscience
One of the seats was left empty to
symbolize the virtual presence of human rights defender Ales Bialiatski at the
presentation of the annual report of the Observatory for the Protection of
Human Rights Defenders in Kyiv,
Ukraine, on 8
December. That’s how the All-Ukrainian Association of Civil Human Rights
Actions expressed support to Bialiatski.
On 11 December a youth action in support of Belarusian political prisoners took
place in the center of Kyiv. 11 air lamps
with portraits of political prisoners were launched into the air on
Vladimirskaya Gorka. The action was watched by hundreds of Kyiv citizens.
After this, action participants proceeded to the central post office of Kyiv to
send postcards to Belarusian prisoners of conscience.
