Brest Leninski District Court has started hearing the complaint lodged by Valiantsin Lazarenkau, local leader of the Free Trade Union of Belarus, against a ban on holding a social picket.
The picket was banned due to the applicant’s failure to sign agreements for police, medical and housing maintenance of the event. However, Mr. Lazarenkau argues that the departments refused to sign the contracts, as they did not know the exact procedures for doing that.
“How can they demand to settle the issue of guarding the picket, when the police do not have the agreement sample themselves”, says the trade union leader.
