Fine of 700,000 rubles for refusal to be fingerprinted
Vitaly Kazakou from Brest was fined 700,000 rubles for a refusal to be fingerprinted.
He refused to undergo the procedure due to his religious views.
A police report was drawn up saying the man showed disobedience to police, Radio Racyja reports. Vitaly Kazakou is disappointed with the so called independence of Belarusian courts:
“There was a trial, but there was no justice. I am disappointed with our court. I hoped for a fair verdict, but it did not happen. The only thing I can say to excuse the judge is that it was not she who took the decision.”
The Brest dweller underwent DNA testing instead of fingerprinting, but police said it was not enough. Vitaly Kazakou thinks the state’s initiative of compulsory fingerprinting is an ungrounded measure.
