Mikola Statkevich is in Mahilyou prison
Mikola Statkevich, who was sentenced to 3 years in closed prison with a reinforced regime on January 12, 2012, is already in Nr 4 prison in Mahilyou.
On January 12 the district court of Shklou confirmed the recommendation of the Shklou colony administration to transfer Mikola Statkevich to prison Nr 4 in Mahilyou. Shklou court decided that the former presidential candidate Mikola Statkevich had not mended his ways or repented. “He probably poses a threat for other convicts,” sarcastically said the wife of the political prisiner Maryna Adamovich.
On Jabuary 12 in Shklou special services staged a real show again, like it happened during the wedding of Mikola Statkevich and Maryna Adamovich. “About 15 cordons surrounded all entrances of the colony, the infamous three blue Volkswagens were noticed there,” Maryna Adamovuch said to Belarusian Partisan.
As a result, Mikola Statkevich was sentenced to three years of prison regime. For this term the politician is limited in the number of meetings, receiving parcels and phone calls.
The case was presided by Vitaly Volkau, a judge from Shklou. Mikola Statkevich was charged with walking without a tag with the number of a prisoner on his clothes, and for not writing about a handkerchief in the list of his personal things. Maryna Adamovich, who had not been allowed to attend the court, finds these violations as a formal pretext, supposing that it was a reprisal to the politician for information disseminated about him and by him.
The administration of the correctional colony Nr 17 believes that Mikola Statkevoch is “a persistent violator” of the rules, he had not mended his ways and he needs to continue serving the punishment, so they demanded to transfer the politician. Such a recommendation concerning the presidential candidate Mikola Statkevich had been written for the court by the governor of the colony colonel S. V. Yermalitski.
