On 19 January, Slonim District Court dismissed an appeal against a decision by the town executive committee to ban a series of pickets of solidarity with Ales Bialiatski.
In her verdict, Judge Natallia Radzionik said that the executive authorities’ decision was legal. However, local leader of the Belarusian Popular Front Ivan Sheha who was expected to stage the pickets argues that the bans referred to an outdated decree and therefore cannot be considered legal.
