Minsk dweller goes on hunger-strike of protest against torture of Andrei Sannikau
That’s how Andrei Nikalayeu
wants to show support to his candidate.
Mikalayeu decided to start the hunger strike after a press-conference of Iryna Khalip, at which the wife of the
political prisoner and presidential candidate Andrei Sannikau told about her
meeting with her husband, “European Radio” reports.
“I learnt from mass media that Andrei Sannikau, a presidential
candidate, has written a petition for pardon under pressure. But it was
delayed. Accordingly, I want to see my candidate at large,” Mikalayeu said.
He plans to hold his hunger strike at home until the moment of Sannikau’s
release. After the events of 19 December 2010 Andrei Mikalayeu served three days of arrest, was
interrogated by military counterintelligence, and his entire computer equipment
was confiscated.
