Policemen searched car of “Vitsebski Kurjer” newspaper
A journalist of the newspaper Yuliya Kanaplyova was behind the wheel of the car.
She said that traffic policemen stopped her several times recently, but only when she was driving the car of the editor-in-chief of the independent newspaper, Radio Svaboda informs.
Yuliya Kanaplyova believes that this car is spied on, in order to intercept the print run of the newspaper.
On February 6 at about 5.30 p.m. the car she was driving was stopped once again by traffic policemen. Soon several more cars arrived. There were people in mufti in them, and they talked to the policemen. Kanaplyova was offered to open the trunk for inspection, but she refused to do so in absence of and attesting witnesses and an inventory.
In two and a half hours, when Yuliya was not allowed to go, policemen with necessary papers arrived. The search started. Policemen wrote down everything they saw in the trunk, and in the car interior.
After they found nothing “suspicious”, they offered apologies to the apprehended driver. There was just one copy of “Vitsebski Kurjer” in the car, and policemen wrote it down into the inventory but did not seize it.
