For Freedom Brest leader appeals verdict by district court

Dzianis Turchaniak, coordinator of Brest office of the For Freedom movement, has lodged a cassational appeal against a ruling by Brest Leninski District Court, which dismissed the activist’s claim on allegedly illegal actions by deputy chair of the city’s executive committee, the Novy Chas newspaper reports.

Mr. Turchaniak deems the court ruling as illegal and groundless, as the court argued that the city executive committee acted in accordance with the law, having refused to issue the copies of the decisions adopted by the body. Apart from that, the court did not take into account that deputy chair of Brest city executive committee Viachaslau Khafizau violated Mr. Turchaniak’s right to participate in the preservation of the history and culture heritage.
