On 10 February Hrodna resident Ruslan Petsko was fined
700,000 rubles (about $83) by Alena Piatrova, Judge of the Leninski District
Court of Hrodna.
On 27 December 2011 some policemen had come to his working place, demanding
that he gave his fingerprints. Mr. Petsko was quite surprised with such a visit
and demanded to explain the necessity of this procedure. He also refused to
undergo the fingerprinting.
As a result, the policemen charged the activist with insubordination to their
“lawful demands” and passed the case to the court. The judge fined the activist
without considering the case on its merits. Instead, she just referred to the
Law “On State Dactylographic Registration”.
