Minsk: detention of "Young Front" activists
At about 8 p.m. on 7 March police detained "Young
Front" activists Raman Vasiliieu and Uladzimir Yaromenka on Nezalezhnasts
Square in Minsk.
Somewhat later two more activists, Zmitser Kremianetski and Mikhas Muski were
detained at the places of their residence. As it was found later, they were
guarded to the Leninski District Police Bureau of Minsk and given charges in
connection with the participation in the performance near the Ministry of
Foreign Affairs on 29 February (during which rolls of toliet paper were thrown
at the ministry's building).
Human rights defenders are of the opinion that Vasiliieu and Yaromenka could be
detained for execution of the verdict of the Vitsebsk court (which had tried
them in absentia on 22 February and sentenced them to three days of arrest for
alleged disorderly conduct).
The trials of Zmitser Kremianetski and Mikhas Muski will take place at the
Leninski District Court of Minsk on Sunday, 11 March.
