Aleh Stakhayevich, leader of the independent trade union at the Granite enterprise, is appealing his dismissal in the court of Luninets District.
The lawsuit lodged by the Belarusian Congress of Pro-Democratic Trade Unions is expected to be heard on 27 March.
According to the Congress’ lawyer Mrs. Alena Yaskova, there are weighty arguments in favour of the trade union leader, as the dismissal procedures were reportedly violated during his conflict with the administration of the Granite enterprise in early 2012.
Aleh Stakhayevich was dismissed from job for protecting the workers’ rights, after some 100 Granite employees left the pro-governmental trade union in late 2011.
