An administrative case for refusal to be fingerprinted was brought against Hrodna resident Uladzimir Fianenka. Mr. Fianenka will be tried at the Leninski District Court of Hrodna on 4 April.

This was done after several insistent telephone calls, by which police officers invited him to this procedure. However, Uladzimir Fianenka always answered that this procedure was to be conducted without violation of constitutional rights and legislation.

On 20 February the police drew up a report where it is written that "he refused from dactylographic registration, thereby violating the lawful demands of an officer of the police department". On the reverse side of the report it is written that Mr. Fianenka refused to sign the document. However, he states that he saw it for the first time when he was summonsed to court.
