Rushaniya Vaskovich is asked to pay for KGB building again

Rushaniya Vaskovich, mother of political prisoner Yauhen Vaskovich, received a strange letter from Mahiliou prison #4, where her son is serving a prison term for an attempt to set afire the building of the Babruisk KGB office. She is asked to pay the sum of the inflicted harm (253,000 rubles according to the court ruling).

“Most probably, some information hasn’t reached the prison yet”, says Rushaniya Vaskovich. “We paid this sum long ago. I have sent all necessary documents there and hope to receive an answer next week.”

Mrs. Vaskovich also states that she has problems with correspondence, but doesn’t know the reasons: “There was a time when I didn’t receive letters from Yauhen for three months. I know that some of his friends and colleagues receive no letters at all,” says the woman. “Some parcels are returned, too. I will try to get permission for a meeting with him in summer. However, there is little hope for it. Most probably I will see him only next year.”
