Brest-based activist of the Belarusian Leftist Party
"Fair World" Liavontski Chapurnykh applied to the UN Human Rights
Committee.
The reason for the appeal is the detention on 8 October 2011, the day of the
People's Assembly in Brest.
Mr. Chapurnykh was detained short before the action and sentenced to 5 days of
arrest by the Leninski District Court of Brest for disseminating information
about the event. Appeals against the verdict to higher court instances brought
no results.
