Mikalai Ulasevich detained on the border
Astravets-based activist of the anti-nuclear company
Mikalai Ulasevich was stopped on the border as he was crossing the border on
his car for the second time during one week, whereas the law allows crossing
the border on one's car only once a week. As a rule, those who violate this
requirement are just sent back.
However, the border guards searched Ulasevich's case for about three hours. As
a result, they confiscated a dictaphone, a CD "Back to the Future", a
CD record of Belarusian folk singers, about 80 "Fukushima" stickers,
training aids "Chernobyl's Lessons" and a copy of the alternative
report about the possible impact of the Astravets Nuclear Power Plant on the
environment.
According to Mr. Ulasevich, the items were confiscated for "holding expert
examination". Mikola Ulasevich says he was going to the Lithuania, to meet
with his Lithuanian colleagues who also opposed the construction of a NPP in
Astravets.
