Former political prisoner Yaromenak given 7 days in custody
Uladzimir Yaromenak, a Young Front activist, has been sentenced to 7 days in custody.
The decision was delivered by the Savetski district court of Minsk on April 27, BelaPAN learned from human rights activist Anastasia Loika.
Yaromenak came to court to support his friends – Mikalai Dzemidzenka, Mikhail Musski and Raman Vasilyeu, who were given 15 days in custody on April 27 for participating in an opposition rally Chernobyl Way. Police officers detained Yaromenak near the court building.
According to Loika, Yaromenak was tried for disorderly conduct. “He was said to have been swinging his arms and swearing near the court of the Savetski district,” Loika said.
Uladzimir Yaromenak was involved in the criminal case over mass disorders on December 19, 2010. He was sentenced to three years in a medium penal colony and pardoned by Lukashenka on August 13, 2011. Yaromenak was placed under preventive supervision.
