Minsk police still haven't returned the car to the
member of the steering committee of the Belarusian Christian Democracy Vadzim
Kabanchuk. The car had been detained on the eve of the Freedom Day action, on
25 March. Some printed materials and a streamer were confiscated as a result.
The official reason for the detention was the suspicion that the car had forged
number plates. Officers of the Tsentralny District Police Department of Minsk
keep assuring Mr. Kabanchuk that they are waiting for an expert to check the
authenticity of the number plates.
Vadzim Kabanchuk is sure that all this is done to prevent him from using the
cars. By the way, a similar thing happened to the car during the presidential
electoral campaign of 2006.
