Police questioned Vitsebsk activist Alena Semenchukova
Activist of the "European Belarus" Alena
Semenchukova was questioned about hanging out a white-red-white flag on the
roof of the building of the medical university.
The reason for their suspicions was the photo camera, by which she made photos
on 4 May, the day when the flag appeared on the roof.
The girl was invited to the police department over the phone, by police captain
Valery Vashkel. She didn't want to come to the police department without
receiving an official writ, as a result of which Vashkel personally presented
it to her.
According to Alena Semenchukova, the police officers asked her what she and her
under-aged brother Siarhei were doing on 4 May in Frunze Avenue, where the
building of the medical university is situated. They also said that a case was
instigated on this incident, because allegedly some pipes had been damaged on
the roof.
The policemen asked Alena to tell her brother Siarhei, who lives in another
city, to come for a talk to the inspection on cases of under-aged persons.
Earlier Alena's mother had been summonsed to the inspection. The mother was
asked whether she knew about the political views of her daughter and that on 20
March Alena had been detained with a poster "Freedom to Siarhei
Kavalenka!" and fined 175,000 rubles by Judge of the Chyhunachny District
Court of Vitsebsk Alena Tsyhankova.
