Yulia Kanapliova, journalist of the Vitsebski Kurier independent newspaper, has lodged a complaint with Orsha court.
The complaint contests the actions by local police who detained the journalist and seized printed materials from her car back on 20 May.
Mrs. Kanapliova argues that the books and comics seized by the police are not periodicals and therefore she cannot be prosecuted for illegal distribution of printed media (Par.2 Art. 29.9 of the Administrative Code).
Moreover, the policemen failed to mention any data on the materials in their reports. They also failed to draw up a seizure report.
