On 5 June the head of the Barysau city organization of the United Civil Party Mikhail Vasiliieu sued the Barysau District Executive Committee in connection with prohibition of a series of pickets "For honest elections without Lukashenka".
City activists had filed four applications for holding such pickets on 15 May and received refusals "due to the failure to implement requirements of Article 6 of the Law "On mass events in the Republic of Belarus" and point 3 of the Ruling of the Barysau District Executive Committee "About the order of holding mass events in the Barysau district".
Mr. Vasiliieu has no hope for a positive verdict, but intends to pass all court instances and then apply to the UN Human Rights Committee.
