European Belarus activist Molchan to stand trial for unsanctioned picketing

Andrei Molchan, activist of the European Belarus opposition movement who was beaten by the police on 19 May, is going to stand trial at Minsk Pershamaiski District Court due on 4 July, Radio Free Europe/Radio Liberty reports.
According to the activist, he is facing charges under Art. 23.34 of the Administrative Code (“unsanctioned picketing”).
On 19 May, Andrei Molchan displayed a white-red-white flag in solidarity with the imprisoned Vitsebsk activist Siarhei Kavalenka outside a shopping center in Minsk. He was arrested and badly beaten by the police. As a result, he suffered a brain injury, his lower jaw and several ribs were broken.
