Barysau district: detention of members of Trade Union of Radio-electronic Industry
Eight members of the Trade Union of
Radio-Electronic Industry (TUREI) were detained by police at the tourist camp
in the village of Bryli in the Barysau district. Seven of them were released in
three hours, having received charges under Article 17.3 of the Code of
Administrative Offences. The head of the Mahiliou regional TUREI department
Aliaksei Yauhenau was left at the police station.
The tourist camp of TUREI members started on 30 June and immediately attracted
the attention of the inspection of environmental protection, who tried to
disperce the camp participants in the evening, threatening them with summons to
police.
Though participants of the tourist camp had an official permission from the
forest service, the conflict continued the following day, on 1 July. At 4 p.m.
a group of officers of teh Barysau District Police Department detained eight
participants of the camp.
According to the head of the Barysau city TUREI organization Mikalai Pakhabau,
there were about 40 people in the camp. People came there with their families.
