Pavel Seviarynets, one of the persons convicted for involvement in the 19 December 2010 post-election protest and co-chair of the Belarusian Christian Democracy’s organizing committee, has been officially denied amnesty, the BelaPAN news agency reports.
According to Pavel Seviarynets, on 26 July he was asked to sign a paper saying that under Par. 9 of the Law on Amnesty he could not be amnestied.
“The amnesty initially declared as non-political has for the first time in Belarusian history acquired an evident political nature,” says Pavel Seviarynets, who is serving his 3-year sentence in the village of Kuplin, Pruzhany district, Brest region.
