Political prisoner Aliaksandr Frantskevich put into penal cell for 10 days
The political prisoner refused to fulfill an order
of the penal colony authorities.
Aliaksandr Frantskevich was thrown
to a punishment cell for disobedience to orders, RFE/RL learned from his mother
Tatsiana Frantskevich.
The political prisoner serves his term in a penal colony in Ivatsevichy (the Brest region).
Earlier, Frantskevich refused to apply for a pardon.
Tatsiana Frantskevich said on 19 July: “Prisoners who talk to Aliaksandr in the
penal colony have faced pressure. They were forbidden to talk to him. It is
done to isolate him, to keep him without contacts and friends. He wrote in a
letter and repeated on the phone that he would not sign a pardon application.”
Aliaksandr Frantskevich marked his 22nd birthday on 6 May. He was to have had a
long-term meeting with his mother on his birthday, but the prison
administration canceled it. Frantskevich was deprived of a considerable sum of monetary
aid – he is now allowed to receive only 100,000 rubles per month instead of
500,000 rubles.
Ihar Alinevich, Mikalai Dziadok and
Aliaksandr Frantskevich were tried in the so called anarchists case. They were
sentenced to 8, 4.5 and 3 years in prison respectively.
