Yanina Liasneuskaya, an activist of the “Our House”
civil campaign, appealed the verdict of the Orsha District and City Court
concerning the distribution of children's coloring books which allegedly
promoted violence to the Vitsebsk Region Court.
Bear in mind that the local police issued the charges to the activist on the
basis of the children's coloring book “My father is a policeman” they found in
her bag. The book illustrates the unlawful use of physical violence by police
officers. As a result of the court hearings on 31 July the case against the
activist was dropped due to the expiry of the terms of consideration. Yana
Liasneuskaya disagrees with such formulation and is convinced that it must be
dropped due to her innocence.
