On 8 October the administrative case against an
activist of the Belarusian Christian Democracy was considered at the Navapolatsk City Court.
Siarhei Malashonak was found guilty of violating Article 23.34 of the Code of
Administrative Offenses (violation of the procedure of holding mass events) and
fined 300,000 rubles (about $35).
The activist had been detained in the morning of 8 October for an attempt to
hang out a banner “Freedom to political prisoners!”.
