Human rights defenders assist in protecting right to safe working conditions

Mrs. Alena Naibarodzina, resident of the town of Drahichyn, Brest region, has applied for the assistance of local human rights defenders in protecting her rights in an incident that resulted in her disability.

Alena Naibarodzina, former employee of Drahichyn-based enterprise called “Ekzon”, received an injury as a result of a failure of a safety protection device. The woman was taken to hospital and later declared disabled. However, the managers of the enterprise said it was the woman’s fault. Mrs. Naibarodzina challenged the decision at local office of the Investigative Committee, which denied the employer’s fault in the incident.

Local human rights defenders have helped the lady to draft a lawsuit urging the town court to lay the blame for her injury on the employer. She also demands compensation for moral damage.
