Antifascist detained short before the “Slavonic March” in Mahiliou
A civil activist was detained in the center of Mahiliou why
posting DIY antifa leaflets (in the photo) opposing neo-Nazism and
Russian imperialism.
On 29 the detainee applied to the Human
Rights Center “Viasna”, asking not to mention his
surname.
“About 30 minutes before the “Slavonic March” I
was posting leaflets on the lamp-posts. I was noticed by the road
police who informed the police over their walkie-talkies. As a
result, I was detained and taken to the Leninski District Police
Department, where I got charges and a summons for 29 November,”
said Aliaksandr.
Before I was taken to the DPD, a KGB officer
came up, studied the content of the leaflets and hinted that I would
not have special problems with them. At the DPD I was charged with
posting the leaflets without a special permit and in the wrong
places,” continued the activist.
On 29 November the antifa
activist came to the police and was told that his case had been
closed and an an appropriate notice had been mailed to his home
address.
The “Slavonic March”, authorized by the Mahiliou
City Executive Committee (unlike all recent opposition actions), was
held in Mahiliou on 25 November. It was attended by about 40 people.
The demonstrators (many of whom were dressed as Nazi
skinheads, and some of whom had masks on their faces) proceeded along
Chaliuskintsy Square up to the “Khimik” stadium, where the
organizer, Dzmitry Dzenisenka, and a former presidential candidate
Siarhei Ryzhou (who calls himself a co-chair of the conservative
party “Belaya Rus”) delivered their speeches.
