Hrodna Region Court leaves fines to participants of the Kalinouskis' commemoration
The Hrodna Region Court predictably turned down the appeal of the
representative of the United Civil Party Vital Lopasau against the
fine, issued to him by the Svislach District Court for the
participation in a commemorative action in honor of the 1863-1864
insurgents, held on 27 October. The judge Piatro Bandyk confirmed the
legality of the initial verdict. During the last ten years of the
Hrodna Region Court has not granted any appeals of civil and
political activists.
Bear in mind that Vital Lopasau was one
of those detained for the use of the national symbols at the action.
On 30 October the judge Aliaksandr Shylin sentenced him to a fine of
3 million Belarusian rubles. Later fines were issued to the other
detainees – Viktar Dzesiatsik, Yury Hlebik and Anatol Valiuk, who
also intend to appeal the verdicts.
