Anton Surapin’s Dream
The new film in
the series "The Chronicle of Judgment Time" is about the repressed
reporter-photographer Anton Surapin.
The
story of the teddy bears, which were dropped from a Swedish aircraft, has
become one of the most controversial ones in 2012 and dramatically affected the
fate of the journalist. After publishing the
photos, Surapin was taken to the KGB prison.
At
the time of his arrest, he was a student at the BSU’s Institute of Journalism. Photojournalist,
creator of the site bnp.by ("Belarus News Photo"). BAJ member.
Arrested
on July 13, 2012 in a rented flat Minsk in. The house was searched. Placed
in the KGB detention center – “Amerykanka”. Official
information on charges brought against Anton came only a few weeks later. However,
human rights defenders voiced the opinion that Anton was accused of
facilitation of illegal border crossing, but for some reason the government concealed
the charges. On
August 7, 2012 the journalist was eventually charged.
Released
on his own recognizance on August 17, 2012.
Recognized
as a prisoner of conscience by "Amnesty International."
