Environmental regulations violated during dismantlement of wooden church in Homel
As it follows from the answer, received by the
civil activist Kanstantsin Zhukouski, the laws on protection of the
environment were violated during the dismantlement of the wooden
buildings in the center of Homel.
Bear in mind, that the
ruination of the unique wooden buildings continues despite all public
protests. Activists of various civil organizations, "Talaka",
Belarusian Language Society, and concerned citizens are still trying
to convince the authorities to preserve the buildings which are
decorated with wood carvings, specific only for the south-eastern
Palesse, and give them the status of historical and cultural
heritage.
The Homel inspection of environmental resources and
protection answered to Mr. Zhukouski that the fact of buring of the
waste from the disassembled houses in Valatouskaya Street was
confirmed, and the individual entrepreneur was fined 500,000 rubles
for this violation.
The inspection thanked Kanstantsin
Zhukouski for "a sensitive attutude to the Homel
environment".
At the same time, the activists are sure
that if the control organs and the law machinery turned more
attention to the dismantlement of the buildings, they would have
found many more violations apart from violations of the environmental
regulations.
