Brest: information in favor of the accused Vital Koush voiced at the court hearing
On 15 January the hearings on the case
of the civil activist Vital Koush, charged with assistance to illegal
migration, continued at the Brest District Court.
According
to the testimony of a border guard who participated in the detention
of eight citizens of India who wanted to illegally cross the
Belarusian-Polish border (according to the investigation, Vital Koush
assisted this group). The border guard stated that the Indians had
other guides who prepared them to the illegal crossing of the border
on a rope.
It's worth reminding that after the deportation of
the eight Indians from Belarus they recorded a video address in which
they stated that during their detention in Belarus they had been
subjected to torture and cruel treatment and had to give false
testimonies against a man they hadn't known. It was Vital Koush, a
former member of the Belarusian Popular Front and civil activist.
On
1 September 2012 he was forcedly detained by people in mufti before
the eyes of his family and has been kept in custody since that time.
Vital Koush pleads innocent.
