Brest journalist complains to Prosecutor’s Office of police obstruction
Mrs. Milana Kharytonava, press-photographer of the “Brestskiy Kurier” independent weekly, has lodged a statement with local Prosecutor’s Office to demand prosecution of a policeman who reportedly obstructed her professional activities.
According to Mrs. Kharytonava, during an incident on 25 November, when police arrested football fans at the local stadium, one of the policemen used violence against the journalist as she tried to take photos of the raid.
Milana Kharytonava says she repeatedly reminded the policeman that his actions illegally prevented the photographer from implementing her professional duties. The incident was over only after the policeman received orders from an officer.
In her complaint, the journalist demands to identify the policeman who obstructed her professional activities, to investigate the allegations and to provide legal assessment of the incident, and, in case he is found guilty, to prosecute the policeman.
