Liudmila Rapaport: "It is funny when all people have fun, not only anti-Semits"
In Baranavichy, the private bakery
"Dolce Vita" started selling a cake under the name "Poor
Jew". The shop assistant stated that this name for the cake had
been chosen by workers of the bakery, as far as other cakes weighing
1.5 kilos cost about 200,000 rubles, whereas the Jew is poor, it can
be bought for 71,000 rubles.
The Baranavichy citizen Liudmila
Rapaport doesn't consider it to be funny: "Of course, the
problem is not that it is hard to find a poor Jew. The problems
appear when somebody brings the cake as a guest and it starts to be
cut in pieces. Here's where anti-Semitic jokes and primitive "humor"
will bloom. I hope that the administration of the shop will heed our
opinion and stop selling the cake under such a name," noted
Liudmila Rapaport, and added that it is funny when all people have
fun, not only anti-Semits.
