Biaroza activist is required to pay for trial over himself
The socio-political
activist from the city of Biarozauka Vitold Ashurak received a
strange note from the Lida District Court. When he phoned there he
was told that he needed to pay 150,000 rubles for the court expenses
of the Svislach District Court on a trial over him.
Bear in
mind that on 27 October 2012 Mr. Ashurak had been detained for
holding a white-red-white flag during the Day of Commemoration of
insurgents of 1863. The Svislach District Court sentenced him to
three days of arrest. Later he timely paid for the prison food. At
present the court also demands that he pay for the strange "court
expenses".
It is not the first case of such strange
persecution of the public activist. Recently he has received an
official letter in which he was told to pay 78,000 rubles of
surcharge for being kept under arrest in December 2010.
