Hrodna human rights defenders don’t give up
The representatives of the human rights movement in Hrodna will appeal unfair decisions by the Courts of Lenininski District and Hrodna Region to recognize their photography posted on the Internet as an unauthorized picket, Radio Racyja reports.
Raman Yurhel:
“We have written a supervisory complaint to the Chairman of Hrodna Regional Court, saying that we do not agree with the decisions of the district and regional courts. Submitting complaints to achieve some positive solutions takes time. The costs, including state duties, are very high, too. As for us, we’re going all the way to the end. However, the majority of people punished with administrative fines know the futility of such actions.”
Administrative fines of a half million each were handed down for posting the picture, as there was no other evidence or witnesses in the court. Viktar Sazonau, Uladzimir Khilmanovich and Raman Yurhel wanted to support political prisoner and head of the Human Rights Center “Viasna” Ales Bialiatski.
