The House of Representatives hosted a meeting of the Committee on Legislation, which discussed the draft law “On amendments and additions to the Code of Administrative Offences and the Procedural-Executive Code of Administrative Offences”.

One of the most important innovations the bill contains is a proposal to amend the Procedural-Executive Code of Administrative Offences with a rule providing for compensation. It should be noted that similar standards already exist in the legislation which regulates criminal and civil proceedings. If the bill is passed and comes into force in the version it is now, then the provision will allow compensating for the damage caused to a person because of the illegal imposition of administrative sanctions.

The article, in particular, provides for the reimbursement of money spent on legal aid (lawyer). It also deals with damage to health. Besides, it’s not just the financial, but also the moral damage that will be compensated in the form of apology. Depending on the situation, it can be done both orally and in writing.

The BelTA state news agency said that the draft law was adopted in the first reading at the previous session of the House of Representatives. In the first reading the committee received 80 proposals. They came from 19 ministries and agencies, MPs of the previous convocation.

The bill also offers a host of other amendments. It is expected that it will take a second reading during the nearest session.
