The event was to be held on February 21 near the sculpture of the letter “Ў”.
Musicians from Polatsk – the leaders of Horad N band and folk group Varhan – were expected to sing some songs in Belarusian to attract the attention of Polatsk dwellers and tell them about the Mother Language Day, Salidarnst reports.
Organisers of the event say the main reason for the ban is that they applied for the performance too late. They missed a 15-day deadline, which gave the local authorities the opportunity to forbid the interesting and useful event.
Another reason for the ban is absence of arrangements with the police and the ambulance service.
