A member of the "Fair World" Valery Rybchanka received an answer from the Supreme Court concerning the conditions in the remand prison of Buda-Kashaliova.

"There it is stated that the Supreme Court considered by appeal and filed a protest to the Presideium of Homel Region Court", says Mr. Rybchanka. "I can't remember such precedents: as a rule, we received runarounds in response to our appeals, after which we immediately applied to the UN Human Rights Committee."

Mr. Rybchanka applied to Homel Region Court in order to receive a copy of the protest issued by the Supreme Court.

Bear in mind that the head of a district branch of the "Fair World" Valery Rybchanka and his ally Aleh Kastusiou were sentenced to 15 days of arrest for handing out printed matter on the official Independence Day, 3 July 2011. Mr. Rybchanka served his arrest in the remand prison of Buda-Kashaliova. In some time he filed appeals against the detention conditions in it, but received only formal replies and had to apply to the Supreme Court as a result.
