As reported by the head of Hrodna
branch of the Belarusian Christian Democracy, Mikola Bausiuk, Hrodna
police detained a BCD member Siarhei Verameyenka who was heading to
the party office in 48 Budzionny Street with a packet of leaflets.
At the office entrance he was stopped by two people in mufti
who introduced themselves as policemen. Mr. Verameyenka was detained
before the eyes of fellow party members and guarded to the police
station.
The leaflets contained calls to support political
prisoners. BCD members intended to distribute them within the
framework of the campaign "Write a letter to a political
prisoner".
