Vitsebsk: civil activist Piotr Ivanov gets detained
Mr. Ivanou was taken to the police
department of Vitsebsk Regional Executive Committee on 12 April.
He
managed to tell human rights defenders that before that he had been
giving explanations to colonel Stsiapanau at the local road police
station, as a witness of the detention of two activists of the
Belarusian Christian Democracy, Aliaksei Kishchuk and Stanislau
Laurenau, for holding a poster "Freedom!" in the center of
Vitsebsk on 16 February.
Ivanou asked to draw to
administrative account the policemen who violated the traffic rules
during the detention. Instead of it, the activist was presented
charges for "knowingly false testimony. At first he was taken to
Pershamaiski District Court of Vitsebsk, but then the car returned
back to the police department, as the police needed to draw up one
more violation report on him.
