The political prisoner confirmed that the person whose photos were published in the press and social networks was the investigator who had brought the first criminal case against him.

As it became known in the beginning of April, the former investigator of Hrodna Regional Financial Investigations Department Siarhei Alikhver, who had investigated the cases of Mikalai Autukhovich and Yury Leonau in 2003-2005, emigrated to the US.

In 2005 Autukhovich and Leonau were convicted for alleged economical crimes within the framework of a fabricated case which was brought after Mr. Autukhovich had given publicity to corruption among the executive officials of Vaukavysk district.

As it became known later, investigator Alikhver suddenly quit his job and disappeared. There was information that he left for the US after winning a Green Card lottery.

After serving his first prison term Mr. Autukhovich had an audience wit the US Ambassador to Belarus Caren Stewart and asked her to find whether the investigator had really moved for the US. The Ambassador promised to help him, but didn't provide any information afterwards.

However, film producer Volha Nikalaichyk published in the social networks the information that the Alikhvers lived in the state of Atlanta.

"It's him in the photos, I saw a photo from his account in a "Nasha Niva" publication", confirmed Mikalai Autukhovich. "What concerns his future: if he doesn't tell everything as it was, I will go to court, I have enough evidence. It can be possibly done by my counsel", he added.
