Astravets civil society activist Mikalai Ulasevich keeps his legal battle with Ashmiany regional customs. He sent another complaint to the district court of Ashmiany to challenge the unlawful actions of customs officials. On 10 April 2012, the activist’s car was put in a special box for inspection at the border checkpoint “Katlouka.” As a result of a three-hour search, his personal belongings were seized and have not been return until now.

This will be the third trial on the seized belongings of Mikalai Ulasevich. During the first one, Ulasevich’s appeal was dismissed on the ground that he allegedly missed the deadline for appeal. The second process was associated with a counterclaim by the customs officials, but it was turned down by Ashmiany district court on February 4.
