Political prisoners’ wives meet Poland’s First Lady

Hanna Komorowska, the wife of Polish President Bronislaw Komorowski, expressed her solidarity with Belarusian political prisoners by meeting with the wives of three of them, Maryna Adamovich, Nasta Dashkevich and Natallia Pinchuk, at the Belweder Palace in Warsaw.

According to Mikalai Statkevich’s wife, the meeting was rather unexpected, though very pleasant and touching. “Mrs. Komorowska her own experience, when she was a political prisoner’s wife during the Solidarity period. And the problems and the troubles, and the situation we are facing today are well known and so it was a conversation between people who could easily understand each other,” says Mrs. Adamovich as quoted by Radio Racyja.

Nasta Dashkevich said in her Facebook account, “Hanna Komorowska supported us and our men. All the wives and mothers whose feelings she knows. Not only those who were with her at the meeting, but also those who remained in Belarus. She listened attentively and shared her memories. The first question was actually, “What’s the most difficult thing?” And then there were all the troubles and worries, and it was clear that it hurt her, too, remembering the things she and Poland had to go through in the time of Solidarity. And she kept repeating, “ Yes, we can still remember.”
