Why April, 30?
On April, 30 in 1968 was issued the first in the USSR human rights newsletter “The Chronicle of Current Events”, which was typewritten and shared by dissidents. It was “The Chronicle” that became the binder of the human rights movement and forced the emerging of the first organisations that defended human rights in the USSR.
The history is coming back in the form of tragedy, but we believe that people are able to LEARN. If challenging times are coming to Russia now, it is the time to pay attention to it, to support civil society groups and activists of Russia, to come together and to prove that the international civil society is alive and common values are more important for it than the borders between our countries.
In our opinion, liberty must not have any borders. In our opinion, the situation in Russia is the challenge for the civil society of the world.
