Brest: authorities bann pickets in honor of Yury Zakharanka
Brest
activists of the United Civil Party filed 12 applications to Brest
City Executive Committee to hold pickets and remind about the fate of
the former Minister of Interior Yury Zakharanka on 7 May (he went
missing back on 7 May 1999).
They also wanted to remind the
people about the disappearance of other well-known public figures –
Viktar Hanchar, Anatol Krasouski, Dzmitry Zavadski whose whereabouts
still haven't been discovered and the investigative institutions
haven't given any meaningful information about it.
In their
ban the city authorities state that such events can be held only in
specially determined places ("Locomotive" stadium and the
ground in the Park of Soldiers-Internationalists). However, they also
refused to authorize a picket in the park, as far as the organizers
didn't conclude the service agreements with the police, medics and
public utilities.
