Ales Bialiatski deprived of food parcels
The political prisoner faced another disciplinary sanction in late March.
Ales Bialiatski is not allowed to receive food parcels until the end of August, charter97.org learnt from Natallia Pinchuk, the political prisoner's wife.
“Today I have visited penal colony No. 2 in Babruisk, where Ales Bialiatski serves his term. I was told he cannot receive food parcels over a new sanction slapped on him in late March. He will be allowed to have parcels only in August. I took only a parcel with clothes,” Natallia Pinchuk said.
Ales Bialiatski was sentenced to 4.5 years in prison in November 2011 for alleged tax evasion. The verdict was delivered by judge Siarhei Bandarenka. The human rights activist pleaded not guilty. He said the money from abroad had been spent to help opposition activists.
Ales Bialiatski received four disciplinary sanctions and was deprived of food parcels last year.
