Viktar Parfionenka, journalist of the Poland-based Radio Racyja, received another denial of accreditation from the Belarusian Ministry of Foreign Affairs, a fifth ban over the past five years.
Last year, the journalist appealed the denial. However, the complaint was dismissed with reference to a number of grounds that directly contradict the country’s Constitution, which guarantees the right to free dissemination and receipt of information.
“I intend to apply for accreditation again. Either the MFA will finally “legitimize” me, or let it keep showing its actual repressive treatment of the freedom of speech,” says Viktar Parfionenka.
