On 13 June, during the 23rd session of the UN Human Rights Council held in Geneva, the voting on the extension of the mandate of the Special Rapporteur on Belarus took place. The delegations of 26 countries voted for the resolution containing the proposal to extend the mandate of Miklos Haraszti, opposed by 3, 18 delegations abstained from voting.

According to the rules, the issue was decided by a simple majority vote.

The extension of the mandate was discussed by representatives of Ireland, USA, Belarus (Mikhail Khvastou), Venezuela and Ecuador.

Bear in mind that Belarus does not recognize the mandate of the special rapporteur. The official Minsk doesn't cooperate with Haraszti and does not give him an entry visa to the country.
