Slonim authorities ban picket of support to dismissed doctor
Slonim residents Ivan Bedka and Viktar Marchyk addressed on May 30 Slonim district executive committee with an application for permission to stage a picket on June 27 in support of a local trauma surgeon, Ivan Sheha. They recently received a written response from the committee signed by the deputy chairman, Viktar Kot. He, in particular, reports that “according to the plan of the Department of Youth Affairs and the Public Association “Belarusian Republican Youth Union”, we have no opportunity to provide you with a place in the town park in Opernaya Street at the required time, as the beginning of a cross quiz “Know Your Land” is scheduled for 11 p.m., June 27, 2013.”
Ivan Sheha has worked in Slonim district hospital for 30 years. He is renowned as an experienced doctor, a specialist of the highest category, known to all residents of Slonim and even the neighboring districts, he is full of strength and energy to continue to work, even though he turned 60 on 25 March this year. However, the chief doctor of Slonim district hospital Yury Piatselski first extended his contract by one year, and then suddenly canceled it, though the clinic is actually short of doctors in all specialties.
